This Site Isn't An Authentic Dating Site, It's An "Entertainment Web Site" Created To "Amuse You":
Hookupcougars.com is not an authentic / legitimate dating site. This site has been created as an entertainment web site. Let us explain what that means. An entertainment site is far different from what they promote themselves as. From first glance you would that you landed on a dating service to hook up with cougars, wrong! Hookupcougars.com is for "amusement purposes only". Take that as a big indicator that this isn't intended to be a dating service. If the site is only meant to amuse you then it's not a matchmaking / dating service. And in their words on their terms page they specifically state this is an "entertainment service for amusement purposes only".
Taken from the terms page:
"You understand and accept that our site, while built in the form of a personals service, is an entertainment service. All profiles are provided for the amusement and entertainment of our members and our users. You are not guaranteed that you will find a date, a companion, or an activity partner, or that you will meet any of our members in person."
This Site Uses "Fantasy Profiles" (Counterfeit Women):
This site uses false profiles of women. These bogus member profiles have been designed to appear to be real people. By viewing these profiles you would never be able to identify they are counterfeit (a fraudulent imitation of something else) unless you have been taught what to be on the look out for. All the faked profiles have one thing in common they use an "Online Cupid" logo, like this one: .
If you see any female that you're interested on Hookup Cougars make sure to see if they have the logo. According to their own terms page "Online Cupids" are fantasy profiles that are fictitious. Unfortunately while researching for our review of this site virtually every single profile of a female member had the logo on it.
The reason they use fake women according to their terms is "to encourage further and broader participation in all of their Site's services". Encouraging broader participation means "Online Cupids" are deployed to get you to pay for a membership. You can read exactly what they say in their terms right here, taken from section 9c:
Taken from the terms page:
"THIS SITE USES FANTASY PROFILES CALLED ONLINE CUPIDS®: You understand, acknowledge, and agree that some of the user profiles posted on this site may be fictitious and operated by the Site or its contractors. These profiles and related messages are conspicuously labeled with the Online Cupids logo . You understand, acknowledge, and agree that the information, text, and pictures contained in the Online Cupids® service profiles do not pertain to any actual person, but are included for entertainment and educational purposes only. Life events, experiences, interests, and geographic locations are fictitious. Nothing contained in any Online Cupids® service profile or message is intended to describe or resemble any real person – living or dead. Any similarity between Online Cupids® user profile descriptions or images and any person is purely coincidental..
Factitious Email Messages Sent To Their Members:
A strange phenomenon happened when we joined Hookupcougars.com, we got a flood of email messages from other members. All the members that contacted us happened to be women. Looking close at every message we received we noticed that all the emails had the "Online Cupid" logo on it. The emails looked authentic but as soon as we noticed the messages were emailed to us from "Online Cupids" we realized they were factitious (artificially created and developed).
The emails were "automatically generated with no human involvement". From our analysis these messages are totally faked and are used to encourage members with a free account to upgrade to a paid subscription. Once again we went back to the terms page to see if we could find out more info and they confess and acknowledge that they use "Online Cupids" to send pretend messages to the members of their dating service. Read the paragraph below to read their own statement on the use of emails that are automatically generated.
Taken from the terms page:
"Messages sent from our Online Cupids® service may be automatically generated with no human involvement, and Online Cupids® messages and/or correspondence may be generated by third-parties hired or contracted by Us. The Online Cupids® service is also intended to proactively monitor user activities and other communications to ensure compliance with Our Privacy Policy, internal operating policies, and Our Terms and Conditions."
Factitious Instant Messages Sent To Their Members:
Now we had an idea what this site was all about so when instant messages started popping up on our computer screen from "Online Cupids" the game was over. All the chat messages had the infamous logo on the top right of it. We then knew none of this was real, it was all factitious. The computer generated messages were constantly popping up. When tried to respond back to the pretend females a message stated we needed to upgrade. And the terms page proved what we suspected was going on. They use the fake women to bamboozle people to upgrade to a paid subscription. Read the paragraph from the terms page below which admits they use phoney messages.
Taken from the terms page:
"You further understand, acknowledge, and agree that, from time-to-time, Online Cupids® profiles may contact both free users and paid users via computer-generated Instant Messages or emails for purposes referenced above. These messages may be transmitted to multiple recipients at the same or similar time(s). Messages from Online Cupids® profiles will contain the uniform designation "Online Cupid" to notify the user that a message has been received from an Online Cupids® profile. In the event the user responds to an Online Cupids® message, either via email or Instant Message, the user may receive one or more additional personal or automated responses from the Online Cupids® profile."
Paid Contractors Run And Operate The "Fantasy Profiles" :
The fantasy profiles are according to the web site's own words operated by third party contractors. It was quite astounding to learn that people are receiving a pay check to send emails and instant messages to members of the site. Let that sink in for a minute. Third party contractors have a service in which they are employed to chat with you. If that isn't trickery, then what is? And once again the terms and conditions to the rescue because they prove exactly what this company is up to.
Taken from the terms page:
"You understand, acknowledge, and agree that some of the user profiles posted on this site may be fictitious and operated by the Site or its contractors. Messages sent from our Online Cupids® service may be generated by third-parties hired or contracted by us. Please also note that a single Online Cupid contractor may be involved with more than one (1) profile on our Site."
